Skiing

Abbie shares her dad’s love of skiing, and he can’t be happier since this means he gets to spend most weekends on the mountain.

This past weekend, as dad was away, I took her to her lesson and spent the afternoon with her, letting her show me some of the trails.

It’s a very humbling experience when my Grade 1 child takes me on hills that she finds boring and I have a hard time to keep up with her.

She thought it was hilarious when after letting her pick the trail for our final run, that I chose to take off my skis when I came to the final steep hill deciding that I would rather slide down it (it was too steep to walk) on my bottom and wound my pride a bit,  then take the very high chance that I would hurt myself a LOT if I attempted to ski it and crashed into the trees.  (She patiently waited for me at the bottom.)

The Invisible Abbie

When she came into the kitchen this afternoon, I noticed that she had  changed her clothes from school, but I didn’t really put any thought to it.  I did find it a bit out of the usual that she had changed into all black and had a hat on; but was busy getting supper ready so didn’t question her about it.

Then out of the corner of my eye, I saw that she was trying to sneak around the kitchen.  I was just about to go after her to see what she was trying to hide when she suddenly stopped in front of the fridge.  She spread her hands and stood perfectly still, stiff as a board.

“Abbie, what are you doing,” I asked?

“I’m camouflage” was the reply.

Hudson is Three!

Happy 3rd birthday Hudson!  You have so many exciting changes in store this spring.  A birthday, a new home with a big backyard, (not far from Grampy’s house!) and a new baby brother or sister!

You have grown so quickly and are now such a smart and handsome little boy! Your talented mom and dad are usually on the other side of the camera (they own the wonderful studio Pure Images Photography).  I was honoured to turn the lense on them to take these images of your wonderful little family!

Walk in the Woods

Abbie and I took a walk in the woods this one afternoon this week to check out a new trail that is being made.

Off to the Movies

It’s not often that we go to the movies (We can buy several DVDs for the same price of what it costs our family  to go see one at the theatre).  She didn’t have school today and was very excited (She was up at 6am waiting) to meet some of her friends in town and see a movie together.  She wanted to wear something “stylish” (at 6 years old?!) and was quite pleased with her “ensemble”.
