Shauna

My little brother had a smile that could light up the room.

His time with us was so very short and when he was no longer here –

An unspeakable void appeared in our lives.

There was a small spark though, that flickered in the darkness; (just 5 months old at the time).

That precious spark was surrounded by love and it sparkled and shone.

It grew and grew and grew.

That spark now burns ever so brightly and while the void is still real and will always be with us;

The beautiful young woman it has become  fills our hearts with such light that all but the darkest shadows have been erased.

Thank-you Shasta. She does look very much like him.
And we did have lots of fun didn’t we?!.. (and it seems like such a short time ago…!)

Shauna is very beautiful, and very much like her father.
It’s funny that when I opened my facebook page tonight that her picture was right at the top, because I was thinking of your family this evening, and how so many of my childhood memories are times spent with your family. You take such beautiful photos and I am so happy that you share them.
I feel as though I can still “know” your families even though time and distance separate us.

Sisters

My oldest and my youngest.

There is 16 years that separate them.

Once upon a time I worried that this gulf would prevent the special sister bond from developing;

however, worry is a useless emotion (as these pictures clearly show)

The mutual adoration they share is so very evident.

These pics are absolutely beautiful! You are a lucky woman to have such beautiful and ‘willing’ subjects!

Happy Birthday Mom

Pink Flamingos and Birthday Cake

My mother’s birthday is September 15th.

She, who is always the one to be giving of herself to everyone else, had to submit to a bit of overdue spoiling for herself.

On Labour Day Weekend, we celebrated with a birthday party at her cottage in Prince Edward Island.

There were lots of wonderful family and friends, from near and far;

A delicious cake made by my grandmother,

And a few pink flamingos……

Happy Birthday Mom!
