The Baby’s Bed

A very special little person was coming to visit at Nanny’s house this weekend and needed a bed to sleep in.

I decided to set up her old playpen before sending it along to make sure no parts were missing.

While making supper, I realized that the house had become really quiet, which usually isn’t a good thing- so I took a look to see what she was doing.

After dumping in two armloads of books, 3 babies, a whole wardrobe of doll clothes, and a snack (just in case, – one never knows when you will get hungry) she climbed in.

A few years ago she would have her afternoon naps in it, and the little bed must still hold some magic, because she promptly fell fast asleep!

The Starfish

She found a starfish washed up on the beach the night before.

The next morning she saw it move and realized it was still alive.  When she learnt the awful truth that it would die if she kept it, she had to make  the agonizing decision as to whether she would keep it, or set it free, (which she really did not want to do).

I left her to think about it and after some tears, she came in the cottage and told me that she wanted to put it back in the ocean – now; which meant a walk to the shore in our pj’s to release the little guy back into the salty water.

The Birthday Candles

-When she was three she got in a fight over blowing out birthday candles and nearly got drug through a cake.

Some things never change.  She still likes to blow out the candles all by herself.  When little sister got too close, an arm popped up to hold her out of range.

Happy Birthday Sarah!

June 22, 2012 – A Walk on the Beach

Can you feel the breeze gently blowing on your face and the salty smell that fills the air?  How about the feel of the sand under your feet or the sound of the waves gently lapping on the shore?

I love going for a walk on the beach in the evening.  Whatever stress and clutter that fill out minds during the day can be wiped away so magically by a short walk on the beach.

After  one such a day last Friday, we stopped enroute to the cottage for a short but satisfying walk on this beautiful beach which had the most incredible backdrop- Confederation Bridge.

Love these, Wendy! Brandi has a good idea. Send them to the province.

A little peek at what I am working at this week… !

The girls joined me on a trip this past weekend to mom’s cottage in Prince Edward Island.  On the way, we made a pit stop at this most beautiful of beaches.
